Graduate Assistant--Figure Skating & Children's Programming: BU Fitness, Recreation & Dance
I come from a family deeply rooted in health and entrepreneurship. From the first CEO of Blue Cross Health Insurance in Maine to the founders of the leading mental health non-profit in the state, my family background has shown me the powerful impact of health care. In my professional endeavors, I have pioneered creative solutions to address access barriers to hearing health--serving as the President and founder of New England Hearing Alliance.
I am passionate about promoting health care advancements and health literacy through my study of modern communications modalities.
After graduating in 2013 from Boston University with a degree in Health Communications, I began working to define our next generation of giving. My aim is to provide meaningful access to care and philanthropic opportunities for all members of my community. My entrepreneurial work in healthcare is helping to shape the overall well-being of patients in my area. I believe in developing modern, quality care models to address the global needs and expectations of patients. From health literacy to marketing, reaching patients effectively is of paramount importance.
I am a fourth generation caretaker of a family brand. For nearly 100 years, the Korda Family has been a vanguard in healthcare, well-being, and philanthropy in Northern New England. The story begins with the creation of Maine's first branch of Blue Cross health insurance. Important contributions throughout the years include pioneering efforts in music therapy, mental health, and the Arts. A family legacy, the Shalom House has provided care, housing, and hope to thousands of individuals for over 40 years.
Together with my sister Kristin, I am working to expand the reach and access to Arts education, therapy, and music. Her accomplishments in music and theater, combined with her passion for music therapy make Kristin a valuable collaborator. Kristin Korda is Miss Maine 2013, Miss America talent competition winner, and has been a contestant on top television shows like American Idol and The Voice.
