A recent Gut study examined the clinical implications of MASLD in relation to cardiovascular disease (CVD). Using a large health screening dataset of nearly 10 million adults, the study found that over a third of participants had MASLD or related conditions, with those individuals facing a significantly higher risk of CVD events. This research highlights the widespread prevalence of MASLD and its strong association with cardiovascular risk. Gut
Another publication in the Journal of Hepatology focused on MASLD post-HCV treatment. The study emphasizes that metabolic conditions, such as a high BMI and elevated LDL cholesterol, are critical predictors of MASLD development, even after HCV resolution. This highlights the need for ongoing metabolic monitoring in patients who have achieved virological cure from hepatitis C. E-CMH
Additionally, a Journal of Endocrine Society article presents findings on the relationship between MASLD and metabolic dysfunction, proposing that personalized post-cure management can improve outcomes for MASLD patients. Oxford Academic
